What is component 2A? Component 2A concentrates on the teacher's relationships with students. Teachers create the classroom's atmosphere. Teachers of impact should create a respectful atmosphere keeping students both positive and feel supported. Teachers need to pay attention to students interacting together making sure students are being respectful to each other. Communication is key in keeping the classroom full of positivity which keep students both motivated and excited to learn. Teachers who create the classroom engaging and full of learning are going to be the teachers who create an impact.
Why is it needed? 2A keeps the classroom organized and positive making students feel safe. If students feel like they are being treated poorly they feel rejected and have a lack in motivation. A positive and encouraging environment keeps the classroom healthy. Teachers need to create this environment by using encouraging words and not just focusing on the bad work a student has completed. The teacher should be a role model displaying kind actions as well. If the teacher is having a bad day, displaying moods through his or her body languages and emotions, that might get in the way of a child's learning which is not ideal to be a teacher of impact. If a student sees a teacher not being respectful to other teachers they might think it is okay to be disrespectful to their classmates.
What are the elements? Teacher interactions with students including words and actions. Teachers set the tone in the classroom and show interest in the students. When a student knows they are loved and cared will keep both students involved and want to come to school. Students interactions with students including words and actions. Teachers make sure the interactions among students are polite and respectful. Teachers need to use kind words to their students and be good role models. When teachers monitor student interactions this should bring bullying to a minimum. Knowing what students are saying and how they are acting will allow teachers to stop any negativity before it starts.
Artifacts to be used in the classroom! Teachers need to include encouragement in the classroom between students. They can do this by playing a game (such as bingo, etc.) having students applaud the winner and know not every one will win every time and that is okay. Teachers should keep the classroom positive and praise positive behavior. Using brag tags for younger grade levels can be used to praise good behavior and will make them want to continue to use respectful and kind behaviors in the classroom. Having a show and tell day will also be a good way to learn more about your students. The students will feel like the teacher will show interest in their lives and make them feel important. Keeping a list of rules in the classroom so students know what is expected. Make sure to have treating others with respect as a rule.
